Docteur en Anthropologie des Sciences et des Techniques de l’Université de Paris-1-Panthéon-Sorbonne (2003), avec une thèse : Créativité, Imaginaire et Heuristique, définissant les balises du réel et de l’imaginaire dans l’Institution Imaginaire de la Société (Castoriadis) et dans les quatre domaines épistémologiques et axiologiques de l’objectivité, de la subjectivité, de l’intersubjectivité et de la transcendance.
Il a enseigné la créativité à l’Université de Louvain La Neuve, aux Etats-Unis et à Budapest, et a participé aux travaux de la Creative Education Foundation et du Problem Solving Institute, à Buffalo, USA.
Il est actuellement coordinateur du Forum civique Créatopia en Anthropologie, à Louvain La Neuve, en Belgique, consacré, ces années, à la question : La Régulation humanisante ou la quête contre l’hubris de la démesure.

Si Jean Philippe Cornélis se définit idéologiquement comme au centre équidistant d'un triangle entre la social-démocratie, la démocratie chrétienne et l'écologie, ce qu'on appelle courament le Centre Gauche, ce Forum civique se veut un lieu de réflexion ouvert, où chacun est libre d'exprimer ses convictions, dans un dialogue constructif et tolérant.

Dokter in de Anthropologie van de Wetenschappen en de Technieken aan de Paris-1-Panthéon-Sorbonne Universiteit, met een thesis: Kreativiteit, Inbeeldingsvermogen en Heuristiek, die de grenzen beschrijft tussen werkelijkheid en het inbeeldingsvermogen in de Inbeeldingende Institutionalizering van de Maatschappij (Castoriadis) in de vier epistemologiën van de objektiviteit, de subjectiviteit, de intersubjectiviteit en de transcandentie.
Hij heeft les gegeven aan de Universiteiten van Louvain La Neuve, Buffalo en Budapest en seminaries gevolgd en gegeven aan de Creative Education Foundation en de Problem Solving Institute, in Buffalo, US.
Hij is voor het ogenblik coordinator van de Civiele Forum Creatopia in Anthropologie aan de Universiteit van Louvain La Neuve, die de laatste jaren werkt op het thema:
De humanizerende regulering (van de humane passies) of de zoektocht tegen Hubris en Buitensporigheid.

Ideologisch beschouwt Jean Philippe Cornelis zich als een Centrum Linkse Demokraat, in het middenveld tussen Kristen Demokraten, Socio-Demokraten en Ekologisten, maar de Civiele Forum heeft enkel tot bedoeling om de mensen te helpen hun eigen inzichten te hebben en met iedere demokraat te praten en tolerant gedachten uit te wisselen.

He has been lecturer at the University of Louvain La Neuve and has given lectures in the US, Budapest and at the Creative Education Foundation and The Problem Solving Institute, Buffalo, US.
He is actually coordinator of the Civic Forum Creatopia in Anthropology at the University of Louvain La Neuve in Belgium, dedicated those years to the topic:
The humanizing regulation (of the human passions) or the quest against hubris and excesses.

Jean Philippe Cornelis describes himself as a socio-democrat, in the middle of the field between christian-democracy, socio-democracy and ecology, but the Civic Forum is an open open discussion place where every tolerant citizen can express his opinions and arguments.
